Team CycleLife

CAWES, Inc. (Capitol Area Women's Elite Squad) is a non-profit organization committed to promoting and encouraging the participation of women in cycling both locally and nationally. CAWES, Inc. has partnered with local and national organizations to advance policy initiatives for a safer, greener, and healthier lifestyle through cycling and cycling-friendly laws. We have partnered with the Washington Area Bike Association (WABA), the Cycling Made Real Series, and the US Women's Cycling Development Program in an effort to accomplish the mission of our organization.

The women of CAWES were presented with an opportunity in 2008 to build a women's cycling team that will compete at the regional and national level, with the future goal of becoming a truly competitive national level team.  All our sponsors are committed to advancing the participation of women in cycling and each sponsor believes that women involved in sports will be empowered to succeed in life. Teaism  is a women owned restaurant in the metropolitan D.C. area; Raw Talent Ranch provides a number of local female riders the opportunity to train in the beautiful hills of West Virginia; Cycle Technologies is a company designed to enable women to make informed and natural choices for family planning; Lucy  is a women-specific sportswear clothing company; Redwood is a partner restaurant to Sonoma's Bar & Grill, a longtime supporter of the greater washington cycling community; and GamJams is our local media sponsor--perhaps the "US Weekly" of the Mid-Atlantic Bike Racing Association (MABRA).  And finally, the team title sponsor CycleLife is a "cycling center" scheduled to open its doors in Washington, D.C. in the fall of 2008.
