Team CycleLife

CAWES, Inc. (Capitol Area Women's Elite Squad) is a non-profit organization committed to promoting and encouraging the participation of women in cycling both locally and nationally. CAWES, Inc. has partnered with local and national organizations to advance policy initiatives for a safer, greener, and healthier lifestyle through cycling and cycling-friendly laws. We have partnered with the Washington Area Bike Association (WABA), the Cycling Made Real Series, and the Mid-Atlantic Bike Association (MABRA) in an effort to accomplish the mission of our organization.

The women of CAWES were presented with an opportunity in 2008 to build a women's cycling team that would compete at the regional and national level, with the future goal of becoming a truly competitive national level team.  All our sponsors are committed to advancing the participation of women in cycling and each sponsor believes that women involved in sports will be empowered to succeed in life.  The 2008 season was a success by every measure and CAWES welcomes the addition of three new members who add a combined wealth of experience, personality, and energy to the start of the 2009 season.

For 2009, CAWES welcomes back its premier title sponsor, CycleLife, a full-srvice cycling center located on the Georgetown waterfront.  CAWES also welcomes back Teaism, a women-owned collection of Asian-inspired teahouses located in the metropolitan D.C. area; Cycle Technologies, a reproductive health company designed to enable women to make informed and natural choices for family planning; GamJams, our local media sponsor--the "US Weekly" of the Mid-Atlantic Bike Racing Association; and Raw Talent Ranch, whose training location and bed & breakfast-like amenities in the beautiful hills of West Virginia is bar none.

CAWES would also like to welcome three new sponsors for 2009:  our new co-title sponsor, Specialized Bikes, a worldwide distributor and marketer of road bikes, road bike components, glasses, helmets, and other bike accessories; CeraSporta new generation hydration and performance drink; and Derma-Tect, Inc., the distributor of CrotchGuard, a skin care oil designed specifically for cyclists to reduce friction and relieve chafing irritations.

Stay tuned for more information on all our sponsors, web-site updates, new blog reports, and how you can get involved with WABA!
